Wing added Denver and Seattle to the list of metro areas set to receive autonomous aerial delivery in 2027 through a partnership with Walmart, building on what was already slated to be a year of scaling for the Alphabet-owned drone delivery company.

Wing announced the expansion of drone delivery services to the most populous cities in Washington and Colorado on October 5. Those plans follow similar news from Wing and Walmart in June, when the partners announced seven additional markets for the planned 2027 expansion: Memphis, Tennessee, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area and Salt Lake City.

“Adding new metros to our expansion speaks to how quickly people across the country are adopting drone delivery,” Heather Rivera, Wing’s chief business officer, said in a release. “We’re excited to serve the needs of busy families in nearly 20 major markets spanning diverse communities and climates by delivering the everyday items these families need fast.”

The recent metro additions advance the partners’ goal of establishing drone delivery at more than 270 Walmart locations in 2027—a target Wing announced January 11. The expanded network is expected to make drone delivery available to more than 40 million Americans.

“Expanding drone delivery to Seattle and Denver is about giving more customers a practical option when they need something quickly,” Greg Cathey, Walmart’s senior vice president of eCommerce Transformation, said in a press release. “Walmart’s stores put everyday items close to the communities we serve, and Wing helps bring those items to customers’ homes in minutes.”

Walmart drone delivery through Wing is actively serving Atlanta, Charlotte, North Carolina, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Orlando, Florida, with the company listing another 14 major U.S. markets as “coming soon” on its website.

Wing and Walmart have worked together since announcing plans to bring Wing drone delivery to two DFW-area stores in August 2023. In June 2025, the partners announced ambitions to reach 100 additional stores.

In early 2026, Wing reported that its top 25 percent of customers ordered three times a week and that delivery volume surged in the second half of 2025. In late May, Walmart announced that its broader drone delivery program—including partnerships with Wing and Zipline—had delivered 1 million total orders to hundreds of thousands of customers, while rapidly expanding drone capabilities across 66 stores.
