New York City’s Shaver Hall recently launched two dozen smart lockers to manage the smooth handoff of delivery and pickup orders amid 11 eateries, three sit-down restaurants, two bars and several live entertainment spaces.

Open Lockers announced the Shaver Hall launch in an October 15 press release.
Open Lockers, the firm behind Shaver Hall’s new smart locker system, touts the temporary meal-storage equipment as a way to avoid mix-ups, eliminate guest wait lines, keep staff focused on other tasks and streamline the order pickup process.
The smart locker technology company announced a partnership with Back Yard Burgers in an October 15 press release, bringing an eight-locker system to the restaurant in Kissimmee, Florida. Those lockers will be built into an exterior wall for efficient pickup.
The Open Lockers system integrates with first- and third-party ordering channels and sends guests order-status alerts. Restaurant staff assign each order a locker and place the menu items inside; guests then unlock the locker with a custom code and retrieve their orders.
Beyond restaurants and cafes, Open Lockers markets its smart locker technology to residential complexes and corporate offices for meal and package collection. Similar technology for competing firms has entered spaces like casinos and live music venues.
