Eight decades since Chick-fil-A’s humble beginnings as an Atlanta-based grill, the brand honored 80 years of business by launching a year-long celebration for the milestone anniversary.

To commemorate 80 years in which Chick-fil-A skyrocketed from a local eatery led by a pair of brothers to the nation’s third-largest quick-service restaurant, the brand is leaning into “newstalgia” for its 12 months of festivities, according to a Jan. 5 release.

From limited-time retro-packaging to new menu items that apply contemporary twists to old-school favorites, the theme fuses aspects that helped the company become the staple it is today with a modern feel that customers have come to expect from Chick-fil-A.

“This year marks more than an anniversary — it’s a celebration of the memories, meals and meaningful moments that have brought people together at Chick-fil-A for generations,” Khalilah Cooper, Chick-fil-A’s vice president of brand strategy, advertising and media, said in a press release. “We have so much in store this year, delivering menu items and experiences that are fresh and exciting yet firmly rooted in Chick-fil-A’s renowned quality, care, generosity

, and hospitality.”

To entice consumers with an initiative that may remind some guests of Willy Wonka’s famous golden ticket marketing strategy, Chick-fil-A will dole out 3,000 specialty “Gold Fan Cups” through July 1. While supplies last, customers can purch

ase and collect “Classic Cups” for $3.99 each, with designs inspired by the brand’s past and present.

Upon purchase, each cup comes wrapped so that its design is initially hidden. Lucky guests who receive winning cups earn a year’s worth of Chick-fil-A — 52 entrees from a variety of popular options.

To further capture the newstalgia theme with the year-long promotion, packaging for the brand’s staple chicken sandwich this year will pull vintage-style graphics from Chick-fil-A’s earliest designs. Additionally, classic desserts like frosted sodas and ice cream floats secured a permanent spot on the menu.

Beyond its edible offerings, Chick-fil-A is rolling plush cows with various designs in 2026, available exclusively in-restaurant. Other newstalgia-inspired merchandise will appear on the brand’s online shop throughout the year.

While the newstalgia theme seems aptly suited to Chick-fil-A’s milestone anniversary, the National Restaurant Association’s 2026 What’s Hot Culinary Forecast found that the aesthetic neatly fits into a niche customers desire this year: comfort and nostalgia — with a twist.
