Walmart and drone company Wing are bringing ultra-fast drone delivery to Houston, marking a major scale-up for the service in 2026.
The service is built for last-minute needs, from household essentials to groceries—with delivery times as fast as 30 minutes, according to a Jan. 15 press release.
“This is our most ambitious year yet,” said Heather Rivera, chief business officer at Wing. “There’s no better place to start than Greater Houston. Texans have shown strong demand for a fast, safe way to get what they need from the skies.”
Walmart customers near five Houston-area Supercenters can place orders through the Wing app.
The expansion builds on Wing and Walmart’s growing drone delivery footprint across the U.S. Wing’s lightweight, highly automated drones are designed for dense urban areas, flying about 150 feet in the air at speeds of up to 60 mph. Packages are lowered by a tether-and-winch system.
To date, Wing and Walmart have completed hundreds of thousands of drone deliveries nationwide, including in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and Metro Atlanta.
In DFW alone, the service reaches roughly 2 million people, with thousands of deliveries each week and average drop times under 19 minutes.
