Global food tech platform C3 recently debuted The Citizens Market Atlanta, adding its footprint to the city’s food hall boom.

Atlanta is no stranger to food halls, as the city has over 10 scattered throughout. Citizens Market opened in late May, as the newest addition to the redevelopment of Phipps Plaza, a 13-story hub of shopping and dining destinations.

Citizens Market is a joint effort between C3 and Legends, a global premium experience company, to bring a selection C3’s digital brands under one roof. The 25,000-square-foot market offers eight chef-driven, fast-casual brands created by C3, including Unami Burger, Krispy Rice, Sam’s Crispy Chicken, Sa’Moto, EllaMia, Cicci di Carne, El Pollo Verde, and Soom Soom.

The Citizens Market Atlanta offers eight C3 brands including Sam’s Crispy Chicken, as well as a full indoor/outdoor bar.

“We look forward to sharing eight of our most craveable and coveted brands with the people of Atlanta in this beautiful space designed by my longtime partner, David Rockwell, at the famed Phipps Plaza,” said Sam Nazarian, Founder and CEO of C3.

Not your everyday food hall

The market has an event space and full indoor and outdoor bar, featuring various local wines and beers. The hall contains geometric food counters, neon brand logos, greenery and low lighting to “create an ambience reminiscent of an upscale restaurant” with ample guest seating.

In addition, as all culinary concepts are under the C3 umbrella, Citizens Market sets itself apart from other area food halls by axing the need to rely on multiple restaurants, individual chefs and leases. According to a report by Buckhead, all eight culinary brands are overseen by Executive Chef Jeremy Weaver. Chef Weaver oversees the execution of each brand’s cuisine according to the acclaimed chefs who created the concepts.

The common management also allows the ease of transition if C3 decides to replace one of the restaurant concepts.

Some feedback thus far includes one reviewer pointing out that the Market can work well to combat long lines thanks to kiosk checkouts and “text-when-ready” messaging. Others noted enjoying the selection of food choices and lounge areas.

The opening of Citizens Market Atlanta follows the launch of Citizens New York at Manhattan West in October of 2021. Citizens New York served as C3’s first culinary market to open in the U.S.

Citizens Atlanta is open at Phipps Plaza 11 a.m.-7 p.m. daily.
