Blue Bottle Coffee is rolling out a loyalty program for the first time through a redesigned mobile app.
The program uses a familiar points system with a twist: every dollar earns one point, but it costs fewer points to gift a drink (75) than to redeem one for yourself (150). Members will also get surprise perks throughout the year like free drinks, discounts, or other “just because” rewards, plus short daily “Morning Notes” in the app designed to spark inspiration or share coffee tips.
Coming soon are members-only perks like early tastings, sneak previews of new menu items, and exclusive offers. All of it is tied into the new app experience, built with design firm Work & Co, which also adds easier mobile ordering, real-time reward tracking, and personalized offers.
Blue Bottle says the goal isn’t just points and freebies, but a way to translate its hospitality into the digital space. As Chief Brand & Experience Officer Simone Hodges put it: “We believe generosity is a powerful expression of hospitality. With our new membership program, we’re giving our guests more ways to share the coffee they love, whether gifting a drink to a friend or being surprised with a reward for no reason at all.”
