Square is expanding its reach in restaurant tech with Neighborhoods, a new marketplace built directly into Cash App that allows users to order from local restaurants and retailers. The feature connects more than 4 million Square businesses with 57 million active Cash App users.

With Neighborhoods, customers can browse menus, place pickup or delivery orders, and pay using their Cash App balance. They can also follow restaurants, receive promotions, and earn 10 percent in “Local Cash” rewards redeemable at any business in the network.

Restaurants pay just a 1 percent transaction fee—far less than the commissions charged by third-party delivery apps—and keep access to their customer data. They also gain tools to run marketing campaigns directly through Cash App to reach followers and drive repeat business. It’s free for restaurants to join.

The launch puts Square alongside other POS providers like Toast, which have introduced their own local-ordering marketplaces. Neighborhoods was announced as part of a broader lineup of new restaurant tools from Square, including AI voice ordering, a redesigned kiosk experience, enhanced menu management, new accounting and procurement tools, and support for Bitcoin payments.
