One of the most popular items at Costco is the rotisserie chicken for $4.99. It’s quite a bird. And it may be getting even more attention with the company’s new partnership with Uber Eats.
Uber Eats announced yesterday at its spring product event that consumers can now order items from Costco’s vast inventory, including the chicken, even if you’re not a member.
The fact that Uber was able to secure a secret handshake past Costco’s security is noteworthy. Costco guards the sanctity of its membership experience zealously and hasn’t shied from bringing the thunder down on those who disregard.
But if you do have a membership, you will receive extra consideration, such as saving 15 to 20 percent on purchases made through the app and a 20 percent discount on the Uber One annual fee.
This is the second major collaboration that Uber Eats has recently announced. Just nine days ago it shared that it is now embedded in the Instacart app through a restaurants tab.
