HungryPanda, an Asian food delivery platform, just snagged $55 million in funding, led by Mars Growth Capital. This will help the company ramp up its presence in the U.S. and explore options to serve more diverse communities across North America.

Launched in 2017, HungryPanda quickly made a name for itself, now operating in over 80 cities across 10 countries. The platform caters to over 6.5 million users and is partnered with over 100,000 restaurants.

What makes HungryPanda unique is its user-friendly app, primarily in Chinese, which makes it super easy for users to find traditional Asian dishes. It’s all about connecting Asian communities with authentic foods.

The startup was founded by Eric Liu, inspired by his struggles as a student at the University of Nottingham. He found it frustrating that while there were Chinese restaurants around, the menus were mostly in English and often did not reflect authentic flavors. 

From there HungryPanda was born, now available in multiple languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French and English. 

With the recent funding, the company plans to explore new categories such as grocery delivery.

In 2021, they raised $130 million, bringing their total funding to over $275 million. HungryPanda also hit profitability in 2024, while keeping an annual growth rate of over 30 percent. That’s no small feat in the competitive food delivery game.
