Restaurant group GoTo Foods is the latest to launch drone delivery through DoorDash.

The service, powered by drone company Wing, is live in three Texas markets: Frisco, Fort Worth, and Plano.

Customers within a four-mile radius of brands Auntie Anne’s, Jamba, McAlister’s Deli, and Schlotzsky’s can order via the DoorDash app.

“Orders arrive to customers’ homes in as little as 20 minutes, advancing what’s possible today for speed and quality in the delivery experience,” said Kent Ferguson, head of partnerships at Wing.

From mall to sky

Many GoTo Foods brands are mall staples. Instead of navigating parking lots and food court crowds, consumers can now opt for sky high delivery.

The goal aims to attract Gen Z consumers, who want speed and convenience and have an estimated $360 billion in global spending power.

It also aligns with GoTo Foods’ brand evolution strategy, which includes new store formats and tech-forward models.

“Today’s consumer expects brands to meet them where they are, on their terms and that’s exactly why we’re modernizing through convenience and personalized experiences,” said Kieran Donahue, chief commercial officer at GoTo Foods.

Drone delivery in Dallas expands

The Dallas area has long been a testing ground for drone delivery, with several restaurants already using the service. Along with Wing, DoorDash has partnered with drone provider Flytrex.

Zipline is also making moves in the sector, delivering for brands like Sweetgreen and Mendocino Farms.
