Papa Johns is partnering with Google Cloud for AI integration and to upgrade its customer experience. And it means business with it. It launched PJX, an internal innovation team, specifically to leverage Google Cloud’s AI, data analytics and machine-learning capabilities.
The brand will use a Google Cloud chatbot to increase order frequency, reduce customer-service costs, and improve satisfaction.
“Our partnership with Google Cloud enables us to take personalization to the next level,” said Todd Penegor, Papa Johns president and CEO, in a statement. “We’re not just reacting to orders, we’re anticipating our customers’ needs and proactively providing tailored recommendations and offers.”
The PJX team will be working on solutions for automating suggested orders based on data, such as upcoming birthdays, holidays, or sporting events. The team is also focusing on creating hyper-personalized loyalty benefits, with perks like unique discount codes and advertisements based on a customer’s previous orders. The AI algorithm will be able to provide ordering short cuts and provide real-time promotions based on customer behavioral patterns.
Papa Johns will also be moving to a cloud-based POS system to boost AI-drive dispatching and operations automation.
“By building on our heritage as a tech pioneer in the pizza industry, we are embracing what has always made Papa Johns so well-loved,” said Kevin Vasconi, chief digital and technology officer for Papa Johns, in a statement.
