Uber is rolling out some updates for its Rides and Eats users.
The new “Dine Out” section in the Uber Eats app is designed for people heading to restaurants instead of ordering in. It’ll let users find deals, make reservations at nearby spots, and schedule a ride—all without leaving the app.
The feature is part of Uber’s partnership with OpenTable, which is providing the reservation system. OpenTable users will be able to use their loyalty points on Uber and Uber Eats. Those who’ve booked 12 reservations in a year—considered VIPs—will get a six-month trial of Uber One, Uber’s subscription service.
On the flip side, Uber One members will get exclusive access to select tables at popular restaurants through Uber Eats.
At the Food On Demand Conference in May, Meghan Musbach, head of enterprise delivery for U.S. & Canada at Uber, said a quarter of the 2 million customers using Uber Eats last month came from the Rides app.
Uber Eats also teased another feature on the way: the Savings Slider.
It’s meant to help users stick to a grocery budget. When customers build a grocery list in the app, Uber Eats will show price comparisons within a store—or suggest a nearby one that offers better deals on the same items.
This all comes as DoorDash announced plans to acquire SevenRooms, a platform that handles restaurant reservations and marketing.
