Continuing what has been a year of leaning into grocery delivery, Uber Technologies welcomed more than 375 supermarkets across the Northeast United States to its Uber Eats platform courtesy of a partnership with Wakefern Food September 9.

The move brings digital ordering and delivery services to a collection of brands, including ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Morton Williams, Dearborn Market, Di Bruno Bros., Fairway Market and Gourmet Garage.

To accompany the launch, Uber Eats is offering discounts of up to 30 percent on first-time purchases at eligible Wakefern locations. The partnership follows a similar announcement from Uber in July, when the food delivery platform announced an expansion that included grocery chains across the nation: Big Y and King Kullen in the Northeast; Superlo Foods, Lunds & Byerlys and Foxtrot in the Midwest and Texas; and Vallarta Supermarkets in California.

“As a cooperative made up of family-owned supermarkets with deep roots in communities across the Northeast, our focus has always been on serving our neighbors where and how they shop,” Darren Caudill, chief sales officer at Wakefern, said in a press release. “Uber Eats gives our stores another way to serve customers where they are, making it easier to get the fresh foods, neighborhood service and the value they count on with added speed and convenience.”

The push toward grocery delivery is a yearslong effort for Uber Eats, according to Gridwise Analytics’ 2026 Annual Gig Mobility Report. In 2024, groceries accounted for 7 percent of total deliveries, compared to 8 percent last year. Meanwhile, DoorDash exhibited a similar trend, with grocery accounting for 9 percent of deliveries in 2024 and 12 percent in 2025.

“Customers are increasingly looking for flexible ways to stock up on fresh groceries without compromising on selection or value,” Prashant Garg, Uber Eats’ head of North America, said in a press release. “By partnering with Wakefern and adding more than 375 supermarkets to our platform, including beloved banners like ShopRite and Fairway Market, we’re continuing to build a marketplace that brings expansive choice—from full weekly grocery runs to last-minute ingredients—into one seamless app experience.”
