The worst thing about baseball concessions isn’t the quality or even the exorbitant prices, it’s hearing the crowd go crazy as your star hitter knocks a dinger into the bleachers while you’re waiting for a $12 Miller Lite.
Well, Postmates has a plan to help. As outlined in a press release, the company will help fans walk a little less to get their stadium fare by placing pick-up stations around the park. Fans who order through the Postmates app can have their hot dog, beer or popcorn delivered to the nearest pick-up location. So, alas, fans still have to get up but can avoid the lines.
The feature will roll out to the “Top Deck” of Dodger Stadium for the remainder of the 2019 season and to the rest of the stadium in 2020. CEO Bastian Lehmann said the move reaffirms Postmates as a part of the Los Angeles culture.
“The L.A. Dodgers are an iconic part of L.A. culture and so is Postmates. Having the opportunity to bring our mission to enable anyone to have anything on-demand to Dodger Stadium is extremely exciting for us,” Lehmann said. “My co-founder Sean grew up in L.A. so this is a partnership that really hits home for us at Postmates.”
According to a LinkedIn post by Postmates VP of Partnerships Justin Esch, the project has been in the works for six months. Fans can also plug in the code DODGERS to get a free hot dog via the service (and get them plugged into the Postmates ecosystem, of course).
The best part of the service: customers won’t pay any convenience fees on top of the $21 for their 16-inch sausage. Now if only Postmates would deliver a port-a-potty, super fans (or just lazy fans) might never miss another play.
